Halloween Social at George R. Smith College

George R. Smith College held a Halloween social in the chapel at 8 o clock with faculty and students participating in games and performances. The program opened with a welcome address by President I L Lowe followed by vocal solo, reading and a comedic encore, then a grand march led by Mr A J Tompkins and Rev A M Todd.

Cosservator Enters Columbia Homes With Local Notes

Columbia notes report Prof RL Lagan passing through Huntsville to Jefferson City on business and Mrs Frank Turner of Chicago visiting. Virgil Schweisch watched a St Joseph vs Columbia High game, while Miss Mabel Taylor of Muskogee visits. A sacred concert by Prof Coleman’s group delighted at the 2nd Baptist. Columbia beat St Joseph 5 to 0 in rain on a muddy field. Subscriptions urged for the paper.

Halloween Evening at the Party Ends Cheerfully

Guests mingled in pairs with earnest talk and wary smiles. A few faces showed wretched delight as if free of care. After 10 o clock they departed for the night, leaving the event with wholesome memories rather than mischief.

A Warren street M E church revival continues with nightly conversions and reclaiming backsliders. On Sunday the 20th four souls were saved and two reclaimed. sixteen united with the church. Officiants include Rev Hiijal Hunter of Kinsley, Kansas, assisting Rev W A Bohannon. Obituaries note Bro Samuel Wenicks on Oct 28 and Mrs Susan Waveln on Oct 30. local weddings include Jack Hubbard and Miss Florence Ridding at the parsonage.

Cuba World’s Fair Exhibit Opens November Fourth

If visiting Cuba by water is not possible, attend the World’s Fair exhibit in Cuba opening on November 4. The event runs into the evening at Katy de Pot with a performance and program starting at 8 pm and closing around 10 pm.
