The Negro Young People's Christian and Educational Congress, a major multidenominational movement, postpones its Washington, D C session from July 3-8 to July 31-August 5 to accommodate teachers and preachers across the country. Organizers note wide support, a large local delegation, and planned roles for O J Scott and S G Lamkins with Garland Penn as secretary.

Vernon confirmed as registrar of the US Treasury

William T Vernon, president of the Negro Western University at Quindaro, was confirmed by the Senate in Washington as registrar of the US Treasury. The executive session was brief and Vernon is described as one of the most intelligent Negroes in the United States and known as "The Baker Washington of the West."

Students from fourteen states and territories make up the body. Prof Vernon becomes the third Negro to hold the Treasury Registrar post after Sena tor B. Bruce of Mississippi and Judson W.gon of Georgia, who will be succeeded by Vernon K. C. Journal.
