The fair runs August 16 to 18 with premiums in livestock poultry needlework and culinary arts. Notable departments include swine cattle and fowls exhibits from Central Missouri. Lexington Higginsville and Migginville residents back a strong guarantee fund to ensure success, with catalogue and program forthcoming.
Mrs Clark improves at Lexington health update. Mrs Lillie Parker visited Independence friends. Public collection raised over 21.00, plus 5.50 more. Lincoln Alumni reelect officers. Prof Reynolds praised. Graduating class from Independent’s Lincoln Institute drew visitors from Columbia. Local dinners and club meetings noted. Several obituaries: Thrickies, Ned Morrison, Penlay Joe LothoShe, and Mrs Flayden mourned.
The Lincoln Institute Alumni Association held its annual commencement with officers elected and committees named. Prof J M Rutledge chaired the meeting, with Reynolds Brooks on committees. A program featured papers by Payne, Cooper, and Dell D. Payne, plus an annual address by Prof J W Daniels. The audience and attendees praised the exercises and pledged support.
Kev A M Ward of Kansas City preached at 3 30 PM in Sweet Springs Missouri to the Knights of Tabor and ladies department for their annual sermon. A large audience from surrounding towns attended. Rev Armsted Ward spoke on Psalm 124 with remarks on Mowen Dixon founder and the organization lists 250 societies and 3 000 members. Finis Potter led local lodgers. Mrs Walker Porter provided music. After services refreshments were served and a cemetery procession drew the largest crowd yet. Rev A M Middlebrook spoke to the Normal last Friday evening. Miss T Vo Novela, a recent transplant from Litt le Rock, Arkansas, wed Mr Boyd A Simpson of Golgate, Texas. bride Kee Norris attended.
Mrs Phinx, long known in Muskogee, died last Wednesday June 14 after several weeks of illness. She leaves four husbands, a daughter, and two sons to mourn her loss, and her funeral was largely attended by local residents and friends.
A gland celebration for emancipation was held Monday at Sturgeon and McRey Park with Musko gee's colored Brass Band. Grand dedication of the C MEE Church runs June 20 to 28. The U B F annual sermon was given at First Baptist by Dr Chaston, crowds from Columbia attended, and plans for next year include continuing education at the local school.
A party of young people from Richmond presented an enjoyable entertainment Thursday night at the 2nd Baptist church to aid Mrs Kinney's club and the grand rally set for Jane 25th to pay off church debt. Prof Perry of Carthage spent time here for the Teachers Institute. Penn Hawkins of Independence visited friends Wednesday and Thursday. Miss Dora Dunlap of Richmond and Miss Eva Hunter of Independence are visiting in town and nearby. Editor W oH Huston of Sedalia spent days in town on Conservator and LaFayette Colored Co Pair business. Mrs Mary Roberton visiting her daughter in Buxton Iowa. Munroe Workcoff recovered from a fall in the mines. Sam and Clarence Elam and wife return home due to ill parents, remaining in Lexington over the summer.
In Warrenslurg Prof NO MD Waris assisted in topeling the Institute to the bed of his brother N Harris. An enrollment of 27 teachers at the Institute. Misses Cora Sims Orks Sulthnerton Nona Hill and Bonin waits attended Lincoln Massnate in Jefferson City. The annual sermon to the RS and D of D will be preached at the COM of Church Sunday. The Chair entertainment at Warrens st Chapel was a success and Rev Lohammon preached to a crowded W KT. Warren St Chapel progress reported with Charley Hanks visiting with his grandmother Mrs Bette Lee.
