Grand Chancellor Lloyd Leads Knights of Pythias Growth
A. W. Lloyd, Grand Chancellor Missouri, oversaw rapid expansion from 17 to 71 lodges and 700 to 2800 members, with seven year collections surpassing $55,000. The Knights of Pythias, urging Friendship Charity and Benevolence, linked Afro American uplift to a rising social order and civic citizenship. The organization, founded in 1880 by T. W. Stringer, grew across continents, with Lloyd credited for unmatched Missouri growth and slated for the 1907 Missouri Grand Lodge session in Fayette amid a grand procession of 27 Grand Lodges and 2,000 subordinate lodges.
