The daughter of Rev. A. M. Sommerville attempted to retrieve items from a stove top on Friday evening. Her apron caught fire, causing burns to her face and hands in the accident.
Nelson Umbles died Sunday of general debility at age 93 and had long served as a public charge. His body was taken to Ludemian and Starr undertakers and buried on Wednesday. The Sedalia Daily Capital notes he left no provisions for his father by his son Thomas.
