Daily sessions from Aug 16 to Aug 19 cover devotional services business papers sermons and Epworth League papers by Nettie Lewis Nevada Dunning Erie Jackson Epworth delegates from Mt Vernon Joplin Carthage and Springfield with various sermon and paper topics on Sunday School training revival causes education and church work.

The letter details homes rented to white tenants, numerous institutions and businesses operated by people of color, including churches schools grocers barber shops hotels an echo of local life and achievement. Mrs Ben Redman of Sedalia visits local friends. Miss Flossie Meadows is ill. Mrs Myrtle Williams travels to Huntaville to represent SMT. Mrs Ellen Thuston of Seculia visits relatives. Mrs Nannie and Josephine Rovs spend Sunday in KC with siblings. Ada Hannon returns from Clinton. Mrs Cora Sublets and daughter head to Olatha Kansas. A basket picnic is planned August 4 with ice cream and treats for children. Rev WH Hill of Medley MO preaches. he is a Southeast Mo Missionary aiding the Baptist Church. Mrs Ida Boyd and her son from Trenton visit Boyd’s father. they return Friday. Congrats to Mr and Mrs M Smith on the birth of a son July 29.
Miss Nettie Lester of Potosi and Well Owens of St Louis married at the bride’s sister home in Festus on July 26. Only relatives and close friends attended. The bride, a well regarded Potosi young woman, received warm wishes for future happiness. A Monday evening party at Mrs VY T Ennis celebrated Miss Lucy Ennis’s nineteenth birthday with music and singing by Eliza DeQoe and MeArthur Cosey and the attending young ladies.
Prof J R Sohnson of Tallahassee Mission and Miss Ursula Alberta Guy of Topeka are in the city on business and arranging a Friday musical recital. Miss Selah C Biggers is ill. Miss Daisy Smith and HJ Jones wed at Spencer Chapel M Church last Wednesday with a reception at the bride’s home. Prof C B Bryant of Tahlequah High School was in town on Wednesday.
An observer writes of Hot Springs drawing thousands for its waters and baths. The city hosts 23 bath houses and many hotels with a largely colored staff, noting a cosmopolitan atmosphere and a relaxed street order despite law. The 1900 census lists 3102 residents, with visitors estimated between November and May.
Visitors may get refreshments at the Consaltator’s tent during fair week. Evening lawn fetes in Mrs. Franklins yard offer creams drinks and a good time for all who come.
