Morton Chiles sixteen and Lawrence Burd thirteen were arrested Thursday by Constable Thos Robb and Gresham in the Pacific yards. They confessed Saturday they ran away from Independence Missouri. Chiles father arrived Saturday and took the boys home to Independence. Miss Emma Carpenter traveled from Windsor to attend the party.
County Assessor Charles D. Brown released the 1902 deputy list by township. Deputies from Lake Creek Smithton Bowling Green Heath's Creek Flat Creek Sedalia Cedar Longwood Hughesville Washington Prairie Dresden Houstonia Green Ridge Elk Fork Lamonte Blackwater named with their towns. They will gather at the county assessor's office on Saturday afternoon May 24 for work instructions.
A large crowd enjoyed Friday night’s recital by the Ladies and Gentlemen's Musical clubs at the First Christian Church. The Mendelssohn choruses impressed, with solos by Mrs. Charles Bard and a quartet including Mrs. W. D. Steele. Credit to Mrs. Steele and Mr. Glenn Woods for training. The clubs are expected to fare well in Kansas City contests this week.
