The Missouri State Fair closed after a rain plagued week, with over 28 000 paid entrants and projected revenue above 12 000 dollars. Officials praised the exhibit quality while urging more funding, better grounds, drives, sanitary setups, and a private telephone network for future fairs.
Races paused by sprinkles Saturday afternoon with a small crowd. King Walnut dominated multiple heats in the 2:35 pace for 500 dollars. John W. Flippen was arrested Saturday by Deputy Bud Dillard for stealing John Cronin s horse from Cronin s pasture south of La Monte on the 16th. He pleaded not guilty in Judge Rogers court Saturday afternoon and his trial was set for Wednesday August 27 at 10 o clock. Bond was fixed at 500 dollars.
George B. Goodrich located at 18th Street and Marvin Avenue appears in Bell Telephone directory listing with phone number 176.
G. T. Lambrith suffered severe flesh tearing of his right hand while repairing a wheat fan at the Harter mills on Saturday. His hand was caught in the mechanism, causing extensive injuries.
