The Missouri state fair promises a splendid exhibit and top race programs as crowds surge to the grounds. The streetcar line to the fair is running, stock arrives by train, and exhibitors prepare for Monday’s opening. The State fair board met to approve events and a busy week begins with noon closings except Monday.
The Sedalia Sentinel reports the lodging bureau expects a larger crowd at this year’s state fair and seeks more rooms. Lodging costs 25 to 50 cents per person per night. committee head Louis Ritchie at 213 Ohio Street coordinates rooms and messenger guidance.

Columbia, Aug 16 The Callaway county boundary would move 5000 acres to Boone county valued at about 150060 dollars. A petition signed by 107 Callaway voters asks the change, to be decided at the November election. Land lies west of Cedar creek to ease school crossing issues, with one bridge near Cedar City. The move mirrors a past Missouri river shift that transferred a Boone farm to Moniteau.
Three meetings were held by railroad workers in the city to protest a local collecting scheme that garnishes wages, signaling widespread unrest among rail men over the practice. The gatherings aimed to resist the deductions and highlight impact on workers’ pay.

Sedalia won the third game of the series against Springfield, completing a three game sweep in dramatic fashion. Lawson limited the visitors to two first inning runs as Sedalia’s pitcher racked up six hits allowed overall. In the ninth, Vandine reached on an error, Ford doubled, and White tied the game before pinch hitter Hawkins delivered the winning hit to center, sending Sedalia fans into a frenzy.
Nevada beat Chanute 7 to 3 in a Saturday game in Nevada. Battery for Nevada were Morton and Cheek with Cates benched for arguing with the umpire. Chanute's Relihan and Brophy pitched for Chanute. Umpire Cusack.
Springfield suffers a 5 to 4 defeat at Jefferson City on Saturday. Jefferson City tallies five runs on five hits with six errors while Springfield ends with four runs on six hits.
Seven Springfield players are St. Louis talents with eight pitchers soon on hand including Eddie Herr from the St. Louis Diehls and Rube Adams from St. Louis plus two from Chickasha and Memphis. They aim to field a new pitcher each inning. Umpire Roe and Dr W A Porter clashed over third base rulings at the Missouri Pacific bar Friday evening. The doctor roasted Roe over his decisions amid lively talk and a policeman broke up the impromptu dispute.
