Declamatory Contest At Wa State Normal Sees Gertrude Glass Win
At the Wa State normal on April 19 five societies staged a declamatory contest. Miss Gertrude Glass of Han nibal won with a natural engaging portrayal in her piece titled Connor. A young man forgot his lines but the show was otherwise creditable to students and Wallace Crossley the elocution teacher. Judges included Prof. John P. Gass.

Charles Phillips Dead at 26 in Sedalia Farm Death
Charles Phillips, son of Mr. and Mrs. A Phillips, died at age 26 on the family farm near Sedalia. He grew up in Escong and was a general favorite among friends. Deceased was grandson of Minnie Newman and Mrs. J. C. Cole, and was connected with the Missouri Pacific railway. His family and friends mourn his loss. Funeral arrangements were being made by Mrs. Dr. Page and others.
