Horace Green and his wife, aged 75 and 70, editors of Free Thought, were found dead in their bed with opened gas jets and a locked door, indicating foul play or gas, after years of ill health and financial reverses.
The report from Chicago and London details the death of Mrs. Booth-Tucker in a Santa Fe wreck and notes Salvaton Army leaders, including Ballington Booth and General Booth, may reconcile their factions. Salvos cadets guard the casket and memorial services are set in New York and Carnegie Hall.
In Mount Vernon Brigadier Alice Johnson informs seven Booth-Tucker children that their mother has died and their father is far away. The scene captures a tender family moment as Frederick and Catherine compose a telegram to their father expressing grief and love.
The east bound Chicago flyer on the Atchison railroad was wrecked at Aspish Creek by unknowns. Engineer John Brown of Pueblo was killed and about a dozen passengers injured as spikes were withdrawn from a rail causing a long trestle to collapse. The trestle was 250 feet long and located on piles. An investigation found the rail was deliberately loosened.
Rain expected tonight with a cooling trend into Saturday. Cooler conditions will prevail Saturday with lingering showers possible in the afternoon across the region.
The Electrical Workers Local union No. 226 held a Thursday night dance at Glass hall. It was well attended by members their wives and lady friends with the Second Regiment orchestra providing the music.
Mrs Ella Stevenson and G Porgey were arrested in Kansas City two weeks ago and brought back to Sedaia. They were released this morning after serving ten days for adultery.
Joshua L. Parish age 74, longtime M. K. T. railroad engineer from Sedalia, died at home after a long stomach illness. Born in 1829 in Brighton New York he began engine work in 1855 and served 48 years. Surviving are three sons a daughter and a wife. Funeral Sunday at First Congregational church with Masonic rites.
The case of Robert Alexander charged with grand larceny was continued this morning by Magistrate Truxel sitting as ex officio justice in police court.
The remains of W. J. Burnett, Sapulpa banker, were sent home for interment by the Odd Fellows after he blew out his brains in Oklahoma City. Telegrams about cotton and stock dealings were found in his pocket.
Washington dispatch reports the Postoffice Department issued a fraud order against the National Industrial Council. Isaac Walton of Washington and Little Rock is secretary and Smith Brompon of Charleston is treasurer. The group allegedly used a pension bill for former slaves to collect money from African Americans and divert it from its intended purpose, with Senator Hanna said to have been an innocent victim.
Senator Lodge and Ex-Senator Turner, members of the Alaskan Boundary tribunal, arrived in New York from England. Secretary Root, last to leave London, started for home. Andrew Carnegie shared the same boat with Lodge and Turner.
The Eastern district gains Ex Presiding Judge O M Harris as successor to resigned judge Gabe Albers. Judge Messerly loses his grip on authority as the court becomes more Democratic and ready to fill the unexpired term of Justice of the Peace T P Berry. Sentinel notes Republican hopes fade under new conditions.
