Mrs Cornelius Dead at 52 After Visit to Sedalia

Mrs. Mattie Cornelius aged 52 died at 5 p m Thursday at the home of Zeke Kemp eight miles west of Sedalia where she was visiting. She was a Sedalia resident for years and sister to Samuel Elbert the local printer. She leaves two children Harry and Dorothy. She was a Christian church member and noted as a devoted mother. Remains were taken to Knob Noster for burial.

Skeleton of Confederate Soldier Exhumed in Indiana

The skeleton of Indiana’s sole Confederate soldier was exhumed in New Albany on October 17 and carried to Tennessee for final interment. J. Womack, brother of the deceased, collected the remains, which consisted only of bones. Wack died in 1863 on the air ground hill near Corydon during Morgan’s raid through Indiana.
