Awful death of rural carrier A W Spicer after prairie fire
Daniel W. Spicer died from inhaling flames after a fire on the prairie near his home at 1016 East Ninth street. Eye witness Robert Oaks described a man running in flames before collapsing. Cause deemed accidental by Judge Kinsey. Spicer, born July 1843 in Watertown New York, left a widow and five children. Funeral at Tasisroadway Christian church with Rev. F. L. Cook.

Bearded bandits raid Holliday bank near Paris Mo
A gang dynamited the Holliday bank on the M K T railroad eight miles west of Paris early Thursday. Citizens rallied, routed the robbers, and prevented any money from leaving the vault. The time lock halted at 1 15 am and the attackers quit by 3 am after swift pursuit failed. A $200 reward is offered for arrests. Prosecutor McAllister and Deputy Sheriff Clark scoured the area with no capture.

Butler Missouri October 3 Ex celsior Flouring Mills in the city were consumed by a morning blaze origin undetermined. Damages were extensive and firefighters battled the flames through the early hours. No injuries reported.

German Day Festivities Sparked by Rainy Parade

John Hydon a merchant of Tahatonka Missouri is reported dying from laudanum overdose. Lou Zimmerman arrested at Hickory Hill Missouri for the murder of Larry Breene of St Louis. The Capital Telephone Company of Jefferson City changed hands with Judge A M Hough Houck McHenry and Lester H Parker purchasing the stock.
