W D Owens, city circulator for the Democrat, received word of his sister Mrs P Straussbaugh's death in Omaha Neb. She had been ill, underwent an appendicitis operation, developed blood poisoning and died at 3 this morning. Funeral details were not provided.

Dr W C Overstreet returns from a five months visit to Germany Austria Italy France Denmark Holland and England. He spent two months in Berlin and resided at the Charité hospital while there. He reports good health and happiness to be back with old friends.
The block between Third and Fourth on Lamine Street just completed was opened for traffic this morning. Paving progresses rapidly along the stretch north of Third where new street railway tracks have been laid.

In Chicago on Halloween William Hood’s residence reports Cleveland Hood a 13 year old was shot during a hold up game by Frank Wright also 13. The revolver fired accidentally. Hood survived surgery but condition was at doubt. Wright was arrested then released.
Crooks & Co. at 112 West Main in Sedalia announces a temporary or permanent closing of The Leader with a big sale starting next Saturday. The store has long been a leading bargain center in Central Missouri and will offer many stock items below cost as the whole stock is cleared out.
The E W Bliss company of Brooklyn plans to expand its plant to fill a United States government contract worth 2 000 000 for dirigible electric torpedoes. The Navy has tested the weapons for two years and found them highly effective. Russia reportedly seeks 5 000 000 worth of the same torpedoes and may bid if payment is guaranteed.
Robbers cracked the safe of the Bank of Sandhorn this morning and secured four thousand dollars. Washington reported the incident on November 2.
