Edward Hurley contractor suffered a violent coughing episode that caused a profuse hemorrhage near Third and Ohio streets. He received medical care at Day’s barber shop and home, recovered by afternoon and slept at noon. The report notes he plans travel for the State fair week.
Eddie McGurren reports Missouri Pacific brakemen George Anderson and James Richards injured in Warrensburg wreck are recovering. Anderson is greatly improved and due home in about a week. Richards has left hospital and visits his father in St. Louis several times weekly.
Ed Wood, a popular traveling salesman, was asked about marriage prospects this morning. He admits he will likely not travel alone on his next weekly trip to Sedalia, with unclear plans about his future partner from Warrensburg Sedalia or Kansas City.
Lon Venable, a colored man, was arrested Tuesday on the complaint of Matilda Ellis for common assault and disturbing the peace. He was arraigned before Judge D Kinsey and, on the prosecutor Cashman’s recommendation, was permitted to leave the city for good.
W. L. Jones, once a council member, was fined $1 in police court for not moving his pig pen as ordered. He claimed he understood a June 1 deadline had been granted to relocate the pen.
In police court this morning Fred Putscher was fined five dollars and costs for intoxication with a stay on condition he leave town. Jake Schoell received a two dollar fine plus costs for disturbing the peace.
Virgil Byrd 22 died at Uncle Jake Punter's home six miles west of Sedalia from septic fever. Remains sent to Smithton for burial. funeral to be held soon. Fire crews extinguished a small blaze at Hoffman's hardware on Ohio Street with minor damage.
Frank Tate, noted St. Louis theatrical manager, is entrusted with charge of the vaudeville program to be staged here by the Elks, highlighting a promotional event expected to draw local interest.
Miss Emma Churchill daughter of James Churchill sustained a fracture of the small bone in her right leg a back sprain and numerous bruises after a runaway horse team frightened by a streetcar collided with a delivery wagon near Lu Jin's grocery on Ohio Street during dinner hour. Mr Churchill aided in stopping the team and bystanders helped rushed her to Fleischmann's drug store then home on North Osage Street. Damage to harness and vehicles was minimal.
The city school board re elected all current teachers for next year with three new hires to replace those soon to be married. Kate Slater Rachel Kingsbaker and Hattie Van Antwerp fill vacancies while Charles Deppe from State University teaches physics and chemistry and W H Huston joins Lincoln school. Superintendent Buchanan marks ten years in service as the Missouri Trust moves to new offices at Seventh and Olive.

Jarvis Gilds, 67, died at his home in Bowling Green township Tuesday evening from complications of diseases. He leaves two children, Mrs. J. B. Stewart and Frank Hollaway of Franklin Junction, Missouri. Funeral services were held this afternoon at Providence Baptist Church with Rev. J. W. Ferrell of Lamonte officiating.
Ira Hinsdale died at 10 50 p m from skull fractures after a fall at the state fair race track. He was a Sedalia civic leader and former Missouri house landlord with long city ties. Funeral at his home Thursday with Masonic, Elks, and Knights of Pythias participation. The Lincoln Choral Union will provide music for the service and a large pallbearer group will attend.
The eleventh annual commence ment of Lincoln High school will be held Wednesday evening May 28 in the school auditorium. The class motto is Where Our Ideals Are We Strive to Climb. Members: Curtis G. Jones Gertrude Helena Johnson Fannie Lillie Patterson and William A. Hall. Calendar lists baccalaureate May 25 2:45 p m and graduating exercises May 28 8 p m along with a May 29 lecture by Edward A. Clarke and a May 31 11 a m event.
