Spinner Reeves Hanged After Farewell Speech in Boonville
Boonville Mo May 25 Charles Spinner Reeves colored man who killed his wife in a drunken jealous rage on March 24 paid the penalty on the gallows at 10 23 this morning. About sixty guests attended including newspaper men and officials. Reeves spoke about three minutes professing repentance and Christian faith then said farewell with a rose. His weight caused the rope to tighten but the neck broke and death followed within minutes. Reeves, about 24, killed his wife at a ball after finding her dancing with another man.

State Pair Board approves multiple resolutions and appointments
The State fair board, in late session, passed several resolutions unanimously and made two new appointments. Dr. Will Shirk was named surgeon for the emergency hospital in the administration building, and John Ellis of LaBelle was appointed assistant superintendent of heavy horses. The board also invited Reform School officers to exhibit at the fair with free admission and urged the street railway to extend to the fair grounds and the Rock Island Railroad to locate its line in Sedalia.

In police court this morning Ben Walker was fined $10 for lewd conduct and given a stay of sentence on promise to leave town. Mary Bouldin was fined $1 for disturbing the peace and will settle. Nora Keaton was sentenced to five days in jail by Judge Smith for stealing $3.50 from the Big Onion restaurant.
