Chicago authorities mobilize police and sworn deputies to guard non union wagons as the still spreading strike incurs heavy costs. Daily outlays reach about 60 000 for armed guards while merchants rush extra drays under escort.
General counsel of the M K T railway for Kansas Judge Thomas T. N. Sedgewick died at his Parsons home today from chronic stomach trouble aged 67. He became general attorney of the line in 1889 while a lawyer in Emporia and active in state politics. He was a Mason of high degree with a Knights Templar escort at funeral in Emporia under Masonic auspices.
Rev. P. L. Powell of Holden Missouri will occupy the pulpit at East Sedalia Baptist Church Sunday morning and evening, delivering sermons in both services.
A report from Coon Hollow details a tragedy involving Howell and a subsequent suicide. Authorities say the incident occurred in a rural area, with unclear motives and ongoing inquiries.
About 11 30 this morning in the north side near Washington and Johnson streets two pistol shots were fired at the home of Thomas Dobbins and Mary Howell who had lived together at 120 East Johnson street for about fifteen years. Bill Rudolph a famous bank robber and killer of Pin Kerton detective leaves for execution.
William Rudolph the condemned murderer of Pinkerton Detective Charles Schuma cher was moved to Union Missouri by train at 8 30 this morning with sheriff deputies and Pinkerton detectives. If Governor Folk does not grant a further respite Rudolph faces execution on Monday. He has embraced religion in prison.
Sheriff Ghelert with Pinkerton help moves Rudolph from jail to Union station ahead of a private Monday dawn execution. Gallows, guard fences, and a death watch are in place as Father McErlane administers last rites. witnesses limited to nearby officials and ministers.
James J. Jeffries says he will quit boxing next week in Chicago with plans to move to Los Angeles and then San Francisco. He cites hand troubles and malaria as reasons. Sullivan calls him a coward and posts a $5,000 bet that Jeffries cannot be beat in ten rounds.
Sedalia reports show Dr Edmund Nasse expelled by the Pettis County Medical Society after a May 1, 1905 meeting for irregular practice. The notice cites consulting with nonmember Dr A H Heaton as ethics breach and records Heaton’s schooling and honors in a published defense.

Mrs. Rudolph, mother of William Rudolph set for execution Monday for the murder of detective Schumacher and the Union Bank robbery, visited Jefferson City to plead with Governor Folk to spare her son. Attorney J. A. Garstang asked Attorney General Hadley to intervene as well.

Reading, May 7 It is believed Mary Edwards daughter of Kate Edwards condemned for murder will be brought from St Louis to serve as witness in the case of Samuel Greason her mother's paramour who faces a possible new trial Mary may clear or convict Greason by her testimony and has not seen her mother in years Mary is in fragile health over the prospect of testifying and being involved in the case
