The county court sets 1899 levies: State 25c per $100, county 40c, sinking fund 11c, road tax 10c, interest 10c, totaling 95c. Special six mile district adds 10c, poll tax $2.50. Assessed county value about $11 million. Levy unchanged except for interest.
A Pettis county man C W McPheeters near Lamonte lies in final stages of consumption. The board of charities arranges care for his two young daughters at St Louis orphans asylum while he goes to Knob Noster to be near relatives. The scene at the Commercial hotel drew tears from onlookers. County figures report April collections: State 62890, county 1760.07, court house 64.87, six mile 78.58, schools 39.21, Sedalia 1377.78, Lamonte 33.38, Georgetown 5.10, Smithton 9.10, clerk 77.75, com mission 18.80. Total 4683.59.
In St Louis the Katy freight depot accident victim Ellet Smith left two life insurance policies, one for his Bucklin wife and one for a woman who lived with him in St Louis. Burial occurred near Bucklin where both women attended. Six hundred dollars found on Smith was divided equally, and he had regularly supported his Bucklin family.
Mrs. Mattie Clark of Warsaw and E. Benz of Lincoln were named instructors at the Benton county institute. Drs. At St. Joseph Missouri last night cracksmen blew open the Standard Oil plant safe using a large dynamite charge. The building was nearly demolished and the robbers obtained several hundred dollars in cash.

W E Poindexter purchased the old Clapton grocery stand at Sixteenth and Missouri avenue along with the Clapton residence and two adjacent lots. The deal includes the store building and surrounding parcels.
Sedalia merchants report ongoing queer activity with counterfeit coins exchanged at bars and shops. Police investigate, suspect a local distributor, and U.S. Marshal McKenna of Jefferson City has been notified as the case proceeds.

Mrs Jeffries of Kansas City arrived for a visit with Mrs Bert Wright in West Fourth street. Mrs J T Elliott left for Greenup Illinois to visit her son for several months.
The stockholders of the defunct First National Bank will hold a meeting at the probate judge's office tomorrow at 7 30 o'clock. Promised are sensational developments and attendance is urged for all stockholders.
A youth meeting at the YMCA gym formed a pool of players for a potential second ball team. No full organization yet, but enrollees will train and another gathering is planned to advance steps.
