Mr L W Bryant purchases the interest of Mr W T Tewmey in the Bryant Tewmey Dry Goods company. Bryant rises in Sedalia mercantile circles and will head the prosperous establishment. Tewmey has enticing offers in St Louis and California and may spend time on the coast for his health. Sedalia would regret losing him.
The police are asked to locate Mrs Mary Gumm 80 of Longwood Missouri who with her husband left home Monday to travel to Colorado near Sweet Springs they became separated and she is presumed missing.
Omaha records that County Attorney Shields will file a perjury complaint against James Callahan, alleging false testimony in the Edward Cudahy kidnapping trial. Prosecution hinges on Callahan’s claims of not being at Melrose Hill prison house before the kidnapping, not riding with Crewe when the pony was bought, and not seeing Pat Crewe after December 1.
Governor Dockery yesterday appointed to the state board of mediation and arbitration created by the last general assembly Ford N. Allen of Kansas City for one year Thomas M. Jenkins of St. Louis for two years and James Todd of Maryville for three years Jenkins is named as an employer of labor and is general superintendent of the Suburban Street Railway Company which employs seven hundred men Allen is identified as a Kansas City figure.
The governor named Doctor David C. Gore of Marshall as surgeon general with brigadier general rank on his personal military staff replacing B. G. Dysart who resigned to join the state board of health. James Todd of Maryville is named manager of the Nodaway Democrat and the text notes union leadership roles and Kansas City labor connections.
Buffalo N Y May 2 opening ceremonies mark the Pan American exposition as gates lift on a fair built at about 7 5 million dollars. Management aims for 8 million paid admissions minimum with hopes for 16 million and high wagers on attendance. Midway shows cost 9 50 and the company carries over 3 million in fire insurance while European underwriters seek lines for buildings and exhibits.
A large group of over a hundred girls in white wreaths and pairs of boys marched from Sacred Heart school to the church. They sang hymns praising May, the month of bloom and the mother of God. Fr Neiberg offered remarks and the benediction of the Blessed Sacrament closed the service.
Fire department answered a small blaze on Harvey street near the Missouri Pacific shops about 9 PM. The lamp explosion at the home of Mrs Lydia McVey started the fire as Officer Boullt arrived, she attempted to save photographs and the officer quickly used a bucket to extinguish the flames before full department arrival.
Walter Orrison known as Red lost two fingers this morning while operating a machine at Kelk and Keens' shop where he works as a blacksmith. Doctors Collins and Cowan amputated the two left hand fingers at Collins office. His mother resides in Kansas City and he boards at Sturgis' lumber yard.
The regular meeting of the W. C. T. U. will be held at the home of Mrs. E. W. Sigman. 523 West Sixth street, Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock.
