Fighting rages near Mukden along the Hun River as major powers clash without a decisive winner after extensive engagement. Neither side has secured a clear breakthrough or final victory in the ongoing confrontation.
Reports from St Petersburg and Mukden describe heavy fighting as Russian forces under Kuropatkin repel Japanese assaults at Poutiloff Hill and nearby positions. Russian Eight Inch guns, heavy casualties, and massive wounded transports mark a brutal, ongoing clash with Japanese counterattacks led by Nogi and Kuroki.
Sheriff Wickoff and a deputy chased Clifford Godby an ex Wyoming cowboy wanted for horse stealing. The pursuit ended when Godby jumped from a window at his father's house, running in night clothes for a mile and a half as about twenty shots rang out. He was captured and jailed, awaiting the Iowa sheriff.
The President named Charles Teat of New York for treasurer of the United States replacing Ellis Roberts and Charles Anderson a negro as collector of internal revenue at New York City.
In circuit court today the case of John G. Lujin et al versus Thomas Phillips remains in equity before Judge Hoffman. The defendant Mr. Phillips, aged 76, testified he is well preserved for his years and walks with a cane.
City faces disruption as New York subway employees strike halting rapid transit facilities. Officials urge riders to seek alternative transport while negotiations continue.
Six thousand Interborough transit workers walk out at 4 a.m. demanding shorter hours and a 10 percent raise. Metropolis faces massive disruption as subway and elevated lines halt, 1.25 to 1.59 million passengers affected, police deploy 3,000 guards, and strike breakers and recruiting offices mobilize in Harlem and Jersey City.
Sol Kingsbaker was seriously ill after a sudden illness while visiting Versailles and was brought home with his son Sam Kingsbaker. His condition showed a slight improvement the next day, following a prior period of ill health and a trip to Versailles in hopes of relief.
Local officers and supporters of Fraternal Life Insurance oppose recent bills in the legislature seen as harming this character of insurance. Petitions were started today to gather signatures to be sent to the general assembly aiming to relieve the situation.
A six month old child of H. A. Mondt died after an aunt accidentally closed a folding bed while the family visited relatives. The infant was playing on the bed when the folding mechanism suffocated the child. Police said no foul play is suspected in Poone, March 7.

Jefferson City March 7 The Missouri Senate voted 18 to 14 to postpone action on a substitute bill extending horse racing to 115 days a year in order to keep it from a House vote. The fortieth ballot produced no major shift, with several defections and realignments noted among senators including Kerens and McConeyham. Speaker Hill doubted another caucus would occur.
The Missouri House approved a 175000 appropriation from a larger civil war era claim totaling about 475900. Funds will be allocated to public roads statewide, with counties transferring the money into a dedicated road fund and contracting local road work to qualifying contractors.
President Roosevelt delays Rough Riders reunion in San Antonio from March 31 to April 7. He will not depart Washington for San Antonio before about April 4.

Miss Julia Morarity of Bahner and Mr C F Zimmerschied of Mora married today at 11 in the Pregze hotel parlor with Justice D Kinsey officiating.
Five members of Richard Mansfield's company were arrested after a private car poker game near the theatre in Austin. They posted $25 fines each to secure release as police held the company’s special train for two hours during the incident.
