The new executive offices were opened at Oyster Bay this morning. President Roosevelt and Secretary Loeb began work at Sagamore Hill, handling important communications. He will see no visitors this summer unless an appointment is made for pressing business. Rain prevented tennis with the children.
Kiel June 29 The morning race between the flagship boats of the German and American navies ended with the Chicago securing victory for the United States. The Kaiser personally piloted the Hohenzollern's boat and showed notable skill. Earlier he tested submarines torpedoes and evaluated machinery in shipyards.

In St Louis a warrant charges F Seymour Barrington with murdering James P McCann. Barrington was jailed in Clayton after exhumation found two bullet holes and a fatal throat cut. McCann’s widow identified the body and police tied bullets to a revolver in Barrington’s trunk. Barrington claims innocence.

President Roosevelt and Mrs Roosevelt attended Sunday worship at Christ Episcopal Church in Oyster Bay with their children Ethel Quentin Archie Theodore Jr and a Groton school boy guest. The two pews reserved for the family were filled as the church crowded with parishioners.
Mr. C A Guenther of Grenbery Goods hosted clerks on a Flat Creek picnic six miles southeast of Sedalia. The group traveled by wagonette and car, enjoyed a noon luncheon and a fish fry, then returned, with one incident as John Gross lost his horse Trouble. The party reached home by 3:30 a.m.
In Newport Illinois on June 29 the Reliance Constitution and Columbia raced to decide which defender will defend the cup. The Reliance led after crossing at 12 30 while the Columbia closed in on the Constitution in a variable breeze with light rain.
In Topeka on June 29 the hearing of witnesses for Chauncey Dewey Will McBride and Clyde Wilson charged with murdering three Berry family members in Northwestern Kansas was postponed due to Col Colby being absent in Beatrice Nebraska. Twelve witnesses testified they feared assault if they testified at Goddland Kansas near the scene of the killings.
Col. Robert Ammon a leading New York attorney and lawyer for the Franklin get rich quick syndicate was sentenced to four to four and a half years in Sing Sing He was convicted of receiving part of the stolen funds and using them for his own benefit, in the Miller case which swindled depositors out of hundreds of thousands.
Washington reports several changes in the United States consular corps. Albinon Tourgee moves from Bourdeaux France to Halifax as consul general. William P. Smith from Hull England becomes consul general at Tun sdall. Louis Ayme from Guadalupe advances to consul at Para Brazil after his Martinique disaster work.
Cord Fessenden aged 25 died at his parents home 514 West Seventh street Sunday morning at 10 30 from kidney and heart trouble. He was a Sedalia native and a Sedalia High School graduate who had worked as a clerk for the Kansas City Southern railroad. He leaves his parents sister Ethel B and many friends. Funeral from the residence tomorrow at 2 pm Rev S S Martin will conduct with pallbearers James Snow Frank Clarke Arthur Kahrs Manlove Smith Courtney Stevenson and Pearl Teufel.
J J Coates received notice of his father William Coates death at Rourses New York on Saturday. Cause was paralysis of the throat from a brief illness. He had returned about a week ago from his parent’s bedside where he had been summoned by illness.
Secretary of State John Hay has left Washington for a two week vacation in Newport. He will stay with his son-in-law Harry Paine Whitney and daughter, Mrs Whitney, at their home.
A blaze in Wilkinsburg Pittsburgh on June 29 leveled Younk's Planing Mill Firmin Ink factory and two small structures causing about 75000 dollars in damage. The origin of the fire remains unknown.
Yerbe aged 87 died last evening at his home in Sweet Springs from general debility. He was a highly respected resident of the town for many years. The body will be sent to Marshall for the funeral and interment.
