New Orleans reports twelve new yellow fever cases by 11 39 this morning with no deaths. Mississippi restricts entry from New Orleans requiring health certificates. Mississippi board urges towns to appoint health officers issuing 20 cent certificates.
Creditors of C. J. Devlin of Topeka met in Kansas City behind closed doors with receivers Hurley and Leland to decide whether to maintain the present arrangement or pursue independent action after the estate’s value was discussed.
Major Taggert of the United States army faced a divorce suit in Wooster Ohio. The case, expected to reveal scandal, was postponed today until Wednesday.
The trial of Frank Farris, accused leader of corruption in the state senate, began in Jefferson City this morning as authorities move to confront charges.
Local barber and saloon keeper Jim Reec filed an affidavit of prejudice after dissatisfaction with the regular judge. John E. Lang and the Katy Shop figure in coverage of Senator Frank Farris charged with accepting a thousand dollars. Man died at the company hospital.
John E. Lang 45 a M K T railway car shop coach builder died Sunday in the company hospital from throat cancer after a week of confinement. Born in Connersville Pennsylvania in 1860 he lived in Missouri twenty years and resided in Lamonte Sedalia then worked in shops. Survived by wife Nettie Wise and three children Roy Maggie Cecil. A brother and two sisters in Minnesota also survive. Lang was a member of the Royal Tribe of Joseph lodge at Lafonte.

Ada Oklahoma July 31 Mrs Etta Cotch heiress and former Kan Sas political figure loses about twenty thousand dollars to her husband Barber Cotch who vanished after a two year marriage. Creditors seize the store assets and the couple’s money vanished. Mrs Cotch plans to live with her parents in Marysville once the assignment winds up the affairs.
J C Beedy of Windsor Missouri had his valuable horse stolen two years ago. The horse, now in Kansas City, was found in St Louis by an officer who matched it to police circulars. A $50 reward was offered. Mrs J Caffee identified the horse on a delivery wagon and alerted police. The plant manager said another horse had been traded for the stolen animal about a year earlier.
Ex congressman Funston, amid a Kansan petition drive tied to his saloon dynamiting activity, says he has no current intention to seek the race. The movement is driven by temperance supporters in Iola Kansas on July 1.

The Kansas state board of control dismissed C. S. Newton as superintendent of the Winfield asylum for the feeble minded and named W. T. Vannuys as his successor. Newton admitted the charges, asserting his actions were permitted by the prior state board of charities led by Henry Allen.

A Rock Island passenger train collided with an open switch near Joliet Illinois. Eighteen people were injured none seriously. A gravel train had just backed into the switch and both engine crews jumped. One engine, a baggage car and a dining car were demolished.
