Fayette Missouri July 22 A Black man Frank Embree accused in a June 17 criminal assault on a 14 year old near Burton was seized from officers by a mob of about two hundred. He was whipped and forced to confess before being hanged from a nearby limb. Coroner to view body. discussion of medical misdiagnosis involves a local druggist.
W H Williams a well known carpenter living north of the tracks who lost his boy last Wednesday has created something new aimed at helping others in grief. The message suggests resilience and communal support following tragedy in the neighborhood.
A Sedalia plan proposes The Sedalia Merchants' Mutual Street Fair Association offering 500 shares at 10 each. Profits be divided pro rata among stockholders. Directors would oversee contracts limited to 4500 with 500 for incidentals. profits then allocated to shareholders. Endorsed by local merchants, with Monday night aim to finalize.

Dr A N Sneed, longtime Centralia physician and former mayor, died at his daughter’s home in Columbia. A Kentucky native, he moved to Centralia in 1860 as the town’s first physician and oldest resident. He was 86, a Baptist, and a prominent Mason who witnessed Civil War era events and encounters with marauders near Centralia.
