Governor Tillman faces murder charges as editor Gonzales battles peritonitis after being shot. Bulletin reports his condition deteriorated, with little hope of recovery, before Gonzales died at 1 10 p m in Columbia South Carolina.
London England Jan 1. Taking advantage of the law allowing coal to enter the United States free of duty four steamers loaded with coal left today. Many more will follow as soon as they can be loaded.
The Navy Department was informed of the landing at Charleston of United States Minister Ostion of Venezuela who arrives in Washington as the Venezuelan representative for talks with the powers to be held here soon.

Chicago press reports that a special grand jury indicted 44 individuals and corporations for conspiring to injure public trade in relation to the coal famine. It cites shortages caused by the Pennsylvania anthracite strike and industrial expansion, with no conclusive proof of a broad conspiracy.
