Thirty masked men released W. P. Hopwood and W. H. Johnson from a jail in Lewisburg Tennessee after overpowering the jailer and breaking the jail. The men granted liberty to the two prisoners who had been charged with lynching John Davis a Black man. the escapees disappeared and left no trace.

Mrs Richard Morey of Kansas City and Mrs H H Hyatt of Kirkwood were honored guests at Mrs W E Bard Jr s West Sixth Street residence.
