Orders placed for a new independent refinery at Niotaze Kansas within sixty days. It will process a thousand barrels weekly and supply Texas dealers for the Southwest. A short pipeline will connect wells to the refinery as Rochester Oil and United Oil Gas and Brick join in the venture.
Federal Judge Taylor refused to quash the grand jury indictment against Cassie Canadwick. Attorney Dawley moved to dismiss on grounds of illegality, but the judge upheld the charges and Mrs. Canadwick must stand trial in Cleveland.

Wild cats and their numerous descendants threaten Northern Minnesota forests after a lumber company distributed fifty cats among camps in St. Louis county to control rats. When the camps dissolved the cats were abandoned and now roam in large numbers.
The Milwaukee Medical Society endorses building a large tuberculosis sanatorium funded by private subscriptions. A committee praised the project and a second panel will proceed, planning a $100000 building cost with an additional $25000 for operating expenses.
Washington report says the senate judiciary committee considers no such thing as a constructive recess. The ruling counters the presidents view that a recess could exist between the 1903 extra session and the regular session, during which commissions had been issued to General Wood and Dr. Crum of Charleston.
