Andrew Carnegie deeded his million and a half in New York to his daughter Margaret Carnegie. He will travel to America to present the gift on Christmas day as the child plans a party for friends.

Reed family funeral train returns to Boston area

The body of former House Speaker Thomas B. Reed arrived in Somerville from Washington on a special train. The transfer to Portland tracks occurred this morning for Reed’s burial set for tomorrow. His widow Mrs Reed, daughter Katherine, and successor Representative Allen accompanied the funeral party.

Peabody a prosperous Clarence farmer who bought a farm near Smithton Iowa is in town awaiting three car loads of household goods farm implements and some stock en route from his Iowa home to Pettis county. His 16 year old son will manage the stock. Mr Peabody left this morning by train for Smithton.

A major blaze in Cheyenne Wyoming today destroyed the large opera house owned by Senator Carr. The $100,000 building was swept by fire with the cause still unknown.

Philadelphia report says Barry Johnstone died at Hahnemann hospital from peritonitis after shooting Kate Hassett last Monday. He died as sisters and brothers were at his bedside. burial planned in Syracuse. Hassett was wife of Chicago businessman Everett Beckwith. Hassett parents live in Aurora Illinois.

Memorial Services Held for Sedalia Elks Dead

The Sedalia lodge of Elks held memorial services at Calvary Episcopal Church with about one hundred members present. The Sedalia Military band led a procession from the lodge hall, Exalted Ruler W D Steele presided, and Judge George F Longan and Rev W T Allan offered tributes to Frank Kennedy and Ira Hinsdale and spoke on Elks virtues.

Laid to Rest of Venerable Dr. E. C. Evans

Funeral services for Dr. E. C. Evans were held at Broad Way Presbyterian Church at 10 30 yesterday morning with Rev E W Clippinger officiating. Friends and relatives filled the church to pay last respects to the physician known citywide for his moral and Christian conduct and lifetime of service. Pallbearers were the same as in Sunday’s Sentinel.
