Tracy Morris a Clifton City nine year old was run over by Katy freight No 102 while attempting to ride a box car. Both legs were severed and amputated below the knee at Clifton City Hospital. Surgeons from Clifton Beaman and Katy hospital handled the operation. Recovery chances given as favorable.
Missouri Pacific reports at headquarters that T. J. Brown resigns as chief dispatcher for the Sedalia Kansas City section. B. G. Miller is named chief train dispatcher, effective September 1 1901, with Brown to return to train dispatcher duties.
General Manager Allen of the Missouri Kansas and Texas railroad says the Katy will start a repair plant in Parsons as soon as the record building is begun. The new facility will be large and build both passenger and freight cars and provide repair work for both types. W. H. Davis of Centropolis is mentioned in the incident section.

Edward Forshay, dying of appendicitis in a Chicago jail cell, accuses his slain wife Edna May Forshay of infidelity. He escaped a Buffalo hospital to confront her in Chicago where they met and he killed her at the Vernon hotel on June 3. His trial has not yet been set.
