Fire Chief Willis and City Detective Turner halted an escape plan at the city calaboose after a hole was cut through three layers of brick. Prisoners were nearly free before officers intervened. Myers, linked to a recent robbery, is held for investigation.
In a Beaman police court hearing this morning Robert Lee and Luther Walker faced charges of carrying concealed weapons. Lee said his life was threatened by the Glenn family, fueling fears tied to the mysterious Beaman baby found in a nearby dooryard. The feud between families escalates as threats and past incidents are recounted, with locals predicting possible violence.
A crowd of hoboes and bums appeared before Police Judge Burress this morning. They carried small sums and were fined from 1 to 15 dollars. Several defendants including Arthur MccCurly R. M. McCur ley and Walker Holstein were fined 10 dollars and costs for keeping late hours and ordered to leave the city after paying costs. Alfred Bethoff Henry Hosey and others were fined 10 dollars and costs for trespass and ordered to depart. Wade Wilfong faced a council action for not performing labor duties tied to a wagon license. Jail terms of three days were handed to C. M. Farner S. D. Coeaney and A. D. Wright for trespass. Marvie Stewart was dismissed for lack of proof after disturbance charges related to Rev. John Whitley.
Wil Woodward paid a fine with a Sedalia check at Warrensburg then stopped payment at the bank. Woodward, from Warrensburg, tried a gambling device scam, was arrested and fined, paid, and left town. He later appeared in Sedalia and attempted to cover the fine with an invalid check, was arrested, and released after posting the $11 owed.
Arrangements complete for a street fair wedding to be held Saturday at the Smith and Boeshar booth with Rev. Putman performing the ceremony. The couple are Emmett Fowler and Ida Stanley with a parade to honor them. guests will include the hotel Sischer dinner and a reception with photographs from Bowersock. The flower parade may adjust its line to avoid crossing the procession on Ohio street.
Special to the Sentinel reports Godfried Kralzer suffered a severe injury when a cloverhuller discharged a bullet, tearing off his arm late yesterday evening in California Missouri.
Arthur Linaberry took gold at Forest Park Sedalia, scoring 18 of 25. Kerr and Linaberry tied. Linaberry won in a shoot off. Mr. Lucy earned silver with 17 targets, followed by E. H. Smith 16, Joe Roe 15, Tom Fleming 14. In the Jack Rabbit event nine contestants entered, five targets. E. H. Smith led with 4.
Mrs Z T Nesbit of San Antonio Texas has finished a visit with the Davis family and left this morning for relatives in Knob Noster Missouri.
The Forest Park schedule clears as no phonograph concert will be held tonight. Officials cited a scheduling change and urged residents to note the cancellation in local notices.

Sedalia celebrates a robust clubs scene led by the Ladies Musical Club planning five concerts for 1899 1900 with artists recitals October 1 and subscriptions for tickets. Other clubs including Sorosis Nehemgar Clio and Rocking Chair foster Greek literature art science and current topics with varied meeting schedules and long standing leadership in the community.
The concatenated order of the Hoo Too begins its eighth annual gathering in Denver Colorado from September g to 12 with over 7 000 lumbermen enrolled. Excursions are planned after adjournment including one to Salt Lake City. Mint Johns of Sedalia is described as the most enthusiastic member and will attend in full regalia.
The Daughters of the American Revolution in Sedalia has reached twenty five members after two years of existence. Many more eligible women are expected to join as the society expands its activities and outreach in the community.
