Candidates for the queen contest are summoned to gather at Mrs R W Carrs residence to discuss duties and selection procedures. The meeting emphasizes organization and readiness ahead of the upcoming pageant.
Celebrated designer prepares the Queen float for Pettis County flower carnival events in Sedalia. Mr T J Cannon to supervise parade plans as candidates submit names at Mrs R W Carr’s home. A grand trades procession opens the week, highlighting Sedalia industries and a Van Veiled Prophets style float drawing due Tuesday.
Floyd Babbitt, six years old and son of Fenton Babbitt of 636 East Sixteenth, swallowed a circular tin piece the size of a silver quarter this afternoon while employed at the M K T. Doctors Crawford and Evans were called. the item was eventually pushed into the stomach. No serious outcomes expected.
Clifford Ahrens sues Missouri Pacific for 2000 dollars alleging injuries after a trip from Jefferson City to Warrensburg where he slept in the baggage room and was assaulted by the baggage man who was fined in police court.

John Whitley a colored special policeman was resting in a East Main restaurant when a thief stole his coat gun billy and star. He reported the theft to Deputy Constable West Witcher and awaits retribution. Chas Williams has leased basement space in the Hoffman Building.
The Illinois Railroad and Warehouse Commission approved an electrical automatic collision prevention device for railroad crossings. Tested near Pekin on the St. Louis Peoria and Northern line crossing the Peoria Decatur and Evansville, a 70 mph train stopped within two train lengths. The system uses an electric lever at a crossing to connect with the approaching engine, stopping follow on trains once the first clears.
Wm O Herin superintendent of motive power and equipment of the Katy issued a circular naming Wm P Danforth as traveling engineer in Texas replacing AC Loucks promoted to master mechanic. Danforth will cover Katy lines in Texas and the Choctaw division of the Indian Territory and is a passenger engineer on the Choctaw division.
H H Goldsbury, long time station agent for the Katy at Lee, resigns his post and will leave the service this month. He has served at the Lee station for many years and his successor will be announced shortly.

A vendor on East Third Street conducted an impromptu street fair as an experiment. He set up a booth with drinks and watermelons and sold over 100 melons to passersby headed to the trains, planning to sell more had a storm not intervened.

County Superintendent Driskell to hold final examinations at the courthouse next Thursday.
