A broad list of merchants and firms sign membership blanks as Sedalia plans a permanent Merchants Union. Tonight’s meeting at Sicher parlors is expected to fill the organization, signaling potential lasting benefits for local commerce.
Due to a large anticipated attendance, the Sedalia Grocer Co Capital Trea Co and others arranged this afternoon for the meeting to be held at the city hall this evening for improved seating and facilities.
Mutual Fire Insurance Company of the City withdraws. Missouri Town Mutual of Nevada will absorb Missouri Citizens Fire Insurance of Sedalia. The transfer follows arrangements led by S. W. Atkinson and F. E. Hoffman Jr. as general agent.
Westminster college announces John Henry McCracken of New York as president at age 24, the youngest college president in the world. The move follows Chancellor Snow's Kansas University decision and aims to boost annual prospects as students and faculty acclaim the appointment.

The remains of James O. George a bricklayer formerly of here arrived from St Louis this morning and were interred this afternoon at 4 at Mc Laughlin's undertaking establishment. Deceased was a relative of Mrs Robinson of Third and Vermont and died of acute dementia.
Missouri Baptists will celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of William Jewell College in Liberty with a gathering in St. Louis next Tuesday. E. W. Stephens of Columbia will give the address in the evening as presidents from thirteen state colleges attend. The Baptist educational interest holds property valued at about $500000.
A window in the Alamo building displays singing birds from Florida. O. E. Knox, a Singer sewing machine man, showcases three parrots and several red birds among other species, drawing considerable attention from passersby.
Kenneth Carter, 23, died of pneumonia at 1117 Brooklyn Ave Kansas City. His brother Bryan died April 9 of spinal meningitis. Miss Maggie Blewett and Mr. W. E. Goff were married last evening at 405 North Prospect avenue home of Attorney Eugene Coney with Rev. J. S. Denton of Warrensburg officiating.
Miss Edna B Doty and Mr I H Nelson were married at 8 pm yesterday at the Doty home 1519 South Osage street with Rev J Braller officiating. The couple left for a trip east and will settle in Baker Kansas where the groom runs a railroad office.
The Ladies of the Maccabees, guests of honor at a recent Knights of the Maccabees reception, plan a return compliment next Tuesday night. A refined program of music and literary numbers is arranged and refreshments will be served. After the entertainment and banquet, dancing will follow.
The officers of Sedalia lodge No. 25 B P O E were at home last night in a social gathering. The event highlighted fraternal camaraderie and community outreach within the lodge.

Tom Collins and his two young sons were struck by a Katy switch engine on the M. E. T. tracks. Bystanders pulled them from the wreck in time to prevent fatalities.
