A New York special reports John W. Gates won a victory over L&N directors and seeks practical control via Morgan Perkins. Gates backs Rock Island and Choctaw Gulf ties, with Georgia state rail policy cited to deter bottling the state line.
S A Condict of Condict and Renie will wed Miss Byrdie Carter in Centralia Missouri at 11 o clock tomorrow. The ceremony will be private and followed by a move to 1305 South Lamine street for residence in this city. Condict has made many friends here and the Sentinel extends congratulations.
Roosevelt condemns the Army Bill as a political maneuver and denounces the treatment of Miles in a Chicago Chronicle report.

Col R L Harriman, famed live stock auctioneer, has been busy selling thoroughbred stock across the south west. He arrived from Boonville en route to Kansas City to auction a celebrated shorthorn herd owned by George H Augustus of Paris Illinois. Yesterday he sold a lot of mules at Boonville.
A company of about forty five surprised Mr and Mrs R F Coats at their home at Sixteenth and Montgomery streets last evening. The gathering included games music and social time followed by an elegant luncheon before the hosts departed for Colorado.
