Sedalia leaders and business figures press for a united effort to win the state fair. Legislators and city competitors urge Sedalia to organize, fund lobbying, and appoint a secretary as the town weighs whether to pursue the prize amid questions of appropriations and site donation.
The CHY city council met in adjourned session with Mayor Overstreet presiding. An ordinance to macadamize Engineer Street from the Howard street south line to the Catholic cemetery and to approprate 1000 from the cemetery fund was laid on first reading. Alderman Dean moved to table.
Mrs Melinda Major wife of the well known dentist passed away this morning at her home. She had long been active in community affairs and was widely respected in the city.
Mrs. Coley Chaney dies in Kansas City. Daughter of Mrs. Mary Marvin of Sedalia. Funeral planned for tomorrow with her husband and two grown children remaining. Mr. Chaney formerly worked for the M. K. & T. in Sedalia. Attending relatives include Mrs. J. W. Burress Mrs. R. M. Olmstead and Mrs. Marvin who traveled to Kansas City earlier.
Reports from Jefferson City indicate Hon. O M Barnett has Relapsed and remains in very critical condition at his bedside his wife and mother present only family members admitted. Dismissed in a Hurry. P D Hastain of this city sued D Brunjes Benton County prosecuting attorney for disbarment but Warsaw judge Graves dismissed the case noting Bruntes conduct was honorable and able.

Henry Wilson aged 13 ran away from his father Don Wilson on East Second. Officer Lovelace located and returned him last evening.
Nadyne Myers the young daughter of J R Myers is reported to be improving after a serious fall from a window Tuesday evening. Medical staff describe her condition as better today.
Judge Dalby and R H Moses returned from Aurora where they refused an offer of 25000 dollars for their mines.
M T Bouldin, a wealthy farmer northwest of Sedalia, files for divorce from Lena G Bouldin. He says she aimed a loaded pistol at his head when he asked for food this morning and has not cooked since Monday. Mrs Bouldin is in town consulting lawyers as the Sentinel goes to press.
John H. Smith arrived from Galveston to assist Prof. Pitts in a physical science class. Smith, a clever boxer and wrestler, will receive instruction to prepare for professional work, with several bouts likely against local boxers and wrestlers in the near future.
Ex Confederate members plan a meeting at Bol Hoy's office next Monday night to elect officers and choose a representative for the Charleston convention to be held May 10 13 in South Carolina.

A derailment last night on the Missouri Pacific near Pleasant Hill involved Freight No. 130 under Conductor Ben Blythe. Four cars were wrecked and the track torn up for miles. a Kansas City crew cleared the line and restored service for the fast mail west. No. 9 and 10 operated over the Lexington branch. No. 8 faced issues.
