Evidence centers on bribery of at least twenty legislators and a $1000 doodle check linked to Lieutenant Governor Lee.
Judge Sanborn signs decree in United States vs Northern Securities upholding government claim that combining the Northern Pacific and Great Northern railroads restrains trade. Securities Co barred from voting stock or receiving dividends. Pacific and Great Northern stocks revert to former holders. Bonded debt reaches 200 million.
President Roosevelt and John Burroughs left Major Pilcher's headquarters in Yellowstone early this morning and planned to spend the day touring the park. Secretary Loeb and Assistant Secretary Barnes fished on the Yellowstone River. A New York newspaper man Bradley was arrested in the park while attempting to reach the president. a dog with him was shot under park law. Dr. Rixey returned to Washington and will rejoin the party on departure.
A Salzburg dispatch says the crown prince of Saxony plans to visit former crown princess Louise at Lindau next week. A reconciliation and remarriage are widely expected, spurred by Saxon public sympathy for Louise.
The Nautilus club held a regular weekly meeting in the rest rooms yesterday to discuss magazines and criticisms. Participants included Mesdames W. E. Bard Newton Cannon J. W. McCain and George Purdy.
Anton Hauslian arrived in New York with a go cart carrying his wife child and baggage. Since 1900 he has walked eighteen thousand miles in Europe. He intends to walk around the world in six years to win a wager of ten thousand Thalers and will not accept charity.
The funeral service for Mrs. Horace Porter wife of the American ambassador was held in Paris with notable Americans in attendance. French officials were present including the wife of President Loubert and two cabinet members.
In Kansas City a Fayetteville Ark man Carrol Mix was shot three times by Amanda Williams also from Fayetteville. Williams followed Mix to his lodging and surprised him in his room after moving into an adjoining room. Jealousy prompted the act. she was arrested and jailed.
James Jamison an ex Sedalian now a civil engineer for the Florence Cripple Creek railway, based at Canon City, is in Sedalia to seek a site. Mrs Jamison will arrive in Sedalia Monday.
The Twenty Fourth annual meeting of the Woman's Home and Foreign Missionary society of Kansas City Presbytery convened at Central Presbyterian church. Committees were appointed at the morning session and Mrs. W J McClure of Siam will speak this evening, with Rev C H Miller also on the program.
The annual congregational meeting of Broadway Presbyterian Church drew a large crowd. Reports on the year were read and officers for the ensuing years were elected. Elders named W. S. Sneed and B. M. Lodge. Deacons named E. B. Farley, A. E. Campbell and R. D. Marshall.
Tomorrow night religious observance announced at the German M E church with Rev A Buechner preaching. Public invited to attend.
Miss Minnie Brownfield of South Lamine Street is very ill with typhoid pneumonia and her condition is described as very alarming today.
A license was issued today to R. H. Mundy of Calhoun and Arelia Maynor of Clinton for marriage.
