The first step toward commercial wireless telegraph use began in Kansas City on April 2 as Lee De Forest selects two dead smokestacks at Armour Packing Company as receiving stations. Bell Telephone Worker Charged with Bigamy in Sedalia
Newton J. Fuel, an employee of the Bell Telephone Co, was arrested by Officers Wood and Boullt on a bigamy charge. He allegedly has two wives, one in Denver and another in Sedalia. A divorce suit against Martha Fuel was filed in Newton County. Fuel is held on a $1000 bond awaiting court actions.

President Roosevelt rode a fifty mile scenic loop aboard his special train near the Horseshoe Curve, Altoona, and Harrisburg. He rode in locomotive cabs, read much of the day, and joked about feeding the forge with the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen. A large crowd welcomed him at Harrisburg though no speech was planned.

Wreck on Big Four Railroad Kills Two injures Seven
A collision between a passenger train and a freight train on the Big Four railroad in Manchester last night killed engineer Searcy and brakeman Hayen and seriously injured seven others including five trainmen and two passengers. The freight crew failed to clear a siding as the passenger train approached, causing a catastrophic wreck that demolished the engine and coaches.
