Rotten meat from sunken ship headed for Alaskan miners

Nearly 100000 pounds of decayed ham and bacon salvaged from the sunken Topeka are being reworked at Armour in Seattle for shipment to mining camps in Alaska and the Yukon. Japanese women face deportation hearing after arrest

May be deported Sato Fuku Takahashi Maru and Hamano Chika were arrested by immigration inspectors Geffney Lynch Mann and Meyers on a prostitution charge. A special inquiry board heard their case Sunday night and forwarded findings to Washington for final action on remaining or deportation.
