City to Raise Funds for Cedar River Plant Upgrades
The city plans to raise about 200000 to install extra apparatus and wires linking the Cedar River municipal lighting plant to the city. The total needed is 414000, but four months of plant revenue, around 30000 monthly, can offset most of the cost. After the new year another 200000 is expected for internal service extensions. The plant’s finances are improving despite prior overdraws, and upgrades would boost capacity to 14000 horsepower, roughly 3.5 times current output.
