Allied powers launch a massive coordinated assault across four fronts. British French and American forces push on the Western Front while Serbians British French Italians and Greeks advance in Macedonia. Palestine sees gains by British and French troops as anti Bolshevik Russians and other allies oppose Bolsheviks in Russia.
The Star raises its price to 2c per copy due to war costs and paper shortages, effective today for street sales in Seattle and 12 cents per week by carrier within the city starting Monday, September 30. The move ends The Star’s historic 1c price, once common among U S papers amid global price hikes.
United Press war expert J W T Mason reports Gen. Allenby’s renewed Palestine operations threaten Turkish supply lines. British advances push toward a key Haifa to Damascus railway corridor, aiming to cut Turkish munitions flow and force the enemy into mountain terrain and guerrilla resistance.
British forces under Gen. Allenby broke Turkish lines along a 16 mile front between Rafat and the sea in Palestine. They seized 3,000 prisoners and advanced about 19 miles as cavalry operations disrupted retreat routes. Tulkeram railway junction fell and French troops aided the main assault.

Crown Prince Rupprecht and Von Boehm urge hold or die while Hindenburg shifts reserves. Allies press hard with fierce mid field combat. German reserves dwindle but lines remain stubbornly contested.
Travelers report a massacre of American and allied nationals in Petrograd following a German inspired meeting. Resolutions urged war on the allies, arrest of all subjects and confiscation of property, and called for an alliance with Germany to send troops to the Murman coast.

Czecho-Slovak troops from eastern and central Siberia gather at Irkutsk. When armed and equipped they plan to move across the Ural mountains to aid forces resisting Teutons and scattered Bolsheviks in European Russia.
London reports a British monitor was sunk by an internal explosion in harbor on Monday. Twenty sailors died and 57 are missing, as announced by the Admiralty today.
British forces pierce the German outposts east of Lempire and Epehy under a fierce storm, taking 300 to 400 prisoners as they press along a three mile front. Haig reports renewed fighting east of Epehy and repulsed German attacks near Moeuvres, Gauche wood, and Bellinglise with gains west of Mesines and southeast of Ypres.
Allied troops in the Macedonian offensive advanced nearly 10 miles, occupying 10 villages including Krnievo Stagovo Drabojel and Polochko. Serbian war office reports describe capturing Godyab in the Cerna bend, taking prisoners including a lieutenant colonel, and multiple guns. Cavalry operates north of these areas as aviators bomb and machine-gun the enemy. Local population is said to welcome the Allied advance.
St Paul reports Archbishop John Ireland remains in grave condition with modest improvement today per his physician.
United Press summarizes renewed Allied offensives: nearly ten miles advanced in Macedonia with ten villages captured, British and French hammer Hindenburg line near Cam brai St Quentin, Le Catelet area repulsed attacks, French pushing south of St Quentin. Messines Ypres gains, two Bolshevik boats sunk on the Dvina, Americans repulse raids near Thiaucourt.
Paris reports French troops captured Benay near St. Quentin and repulsed a counter attack at Castres. The war office said progress east of Essigny le Grand has continued with prisoners taken and artillery activity around St. Quentin and north of the Aisne, while the front otherwise was calm.
The Cologne city council adopted resolutions calling for increased production and improved distribution to ease famine conditions in the city. In London Britain reports 22,762 casualties for the week including killed wounded and missing.
