Special to the Star Victoria report says the tug Lorne bound from Vancouver to Victoria struck Pulford rock on Trial island near the city at 9 o clock. The vessel is stuck hard but not taking much water and is preparing to betten off at high tide if weather remains calm. Coal is being burned rather than loaded.
Coroner’s jury finds Louis A. Booth died from head blows at Blake & Nelson’s saloon on Washington street. Four men named by the jury as wielding an unknown instrument are James Tilton, William Milton, William Levison, and Frank Churchill.
Police believe a livery-stable hired man from Jersey City murdered Mrs. Lillian Pulitzer after she left home Tuesday night. Her body was found in the Morris Canal with a rope around the neck. Pulitzer, her husband, claimed she was missing and later identified the body. investigators doubt his account. A Hoboken stableman said the rope and strap came from a rig rented Wednesday and joined suspect narratives with several men seen in the area.

St. Petersburg Sept. 19 Lamedorf the Persian minister of foreign affairs has been summoned to meet the czar. Reports say negotiations will follow for the construction of a vast Persian road system under Russian control.
