Paris on September 14 the senate acting as high court of justice heard charges against Paul Deroulede Marcel Habert Jules Guerin and other conspirators against the republic. Word came of a new strike in the Mount Baker mining district where Thomas Payne Ed Thomas and Sam Anderson of Blaine and F P Hay of Sumas found a six foot wide ledge of free milling ore. The vein lies between birdeeye porphyry and granite and runs about seven thousand five hundred feet. The cropping is at six thousand feet elevation.

Gas Fitters and Helpers Quit Over Discharge and Wages
Twelve non union workers at the gas company quit last Saturday in protest of a fellow shopman’s discharge and demand higher wages from 2.50 to the union scale of four dollars with a one dollar raise for robbery. Foreman R M Seymour resigned in sympathy. The twelve plan to join the union and align with organized labor while management calls it a sudden quit and says no notice was given. The dispute remains unsettled with no clear resolution yet.
