Wounded British soldiers arriving from German camps recount brutal abuse of British and American POWs in May. About 150 prisoners, including ten Americans, forced to work 6 am to 6 pm hauling rails and moving trucks. Food limited to soup and a single slice of bread. Guards prodded with bayonets and clubbed with rifle butts. one prisoner died.
Albert Swartzenburg, described as an unnatur alized German, is jailed in Tacoma under a 5000 dollar bond for attempting to incite a riot. He harangued a crowd outside the police station after a soldier was arrested for intoxication, urging them to take the prisoner from officers.
Frances Cowells established two new women's swimming records in Alameda. She set an American mark of 6 minutes 14 seconds for the 250 yard event and a Pacific coast record of 29.35 seconds for the 50 yard race.

Patterson MacDonald faces the Duthies in a key shipyard circuit game at Liberty Park Sunday.
