Bride and Groom Found Dead in San Francisco

Dayton Carter and his wife Myrtle White Carter were found dead in their San Francisco apartment. They had married a month earlier after Myrtle’s prior divorce from Ben Jorgenson. Police believe Myrtle turned on the gas to avoid losing her husband to sea service. Funeral plans look to bring the bodies to Renton for burial.

Mike Cohen of 156 Washington Avenue reported to police Saturday that a man wearing a light brown suit and Fedora hat passed a bad check on him and on Sibber & Strauss a few doors away from Cohen’s home.

Col John Stringer candidate for sheriff says he will beat Lafe Hamilton three to one in Hamilton district after six campaign speeches. Kansas City dispatch says the miners' committee refused to consider the counter from coal operators and would press for a final answer today. Operators indicated they would work to have it ready. Indications point to Oklahoma operators, who left the Southwest Operators' association, granting the interstate contract demand.
