A newspaper report details a city-wide investigation into flour and doughnut products linked to a foul odor and possible contamination. A well dressed man was found yesterday afternoon about 4 o clock in Lake Union near the Galer Street bridge. He had been seen walking on the bridge for two days. The body bore a severely damaged left wrist and was identified by witnesses. Police pursue identification and cause of death.
A man about 36, medium height with a reddish moustache, attempted self harm with a pea knife to sever arm arteries. He died, body neatly wrapped in a salt of black, a black derby on his head, no papers or valuables found, no identification. Coroner Carroll notified. body taken to Bonney Watson company mortuary for identification.
H R Willems and H C Henry met with President Earl ing in Spokane to discuss the Chicago Milwaukee and St Pauls plan. Earl ing outlined a proposed Bitter Root route south of Saltese Montana and said Beattie line completion would take about three years with Butte west line to be announced in four days.

The Masters and Pilots' Association of Puget Sound plans to press for a training ship for Seattle and Washington boys, mirroring the Massachusetts training school. They will consult the association's attorney and draft a bill for presentation to the next Congress.
Assistant Engineer Scott announced the Cedar River pipe line route would be reviewed in days. City Engineer Thomson traced the old line to Ren ton and noted about thirteen miles remain. Pickets of the local longshoremen's union persuaded 45 non-union workers to quit while the steamer Robert Dollar from San Francisco discharged cement and explosives at Pier 6. Despite precautions, several union members slipped in, most of the non-union crew resigned, and only about 16 men remained to work after the vessel’s master secured a crew. A minor dock scuffle left a policeman and crew covered in lime.

The steamer Washington, the largest stern-wheeler on Puget Sound, may sail the Olympia to Tacoma to Seattle route starting October 1 if plans hold. Shelton could be added as a port of call while the ship awaits potential remodeling for the Olympia run. Captain John Elismore, a Olympia native, is noted in connection with the vessel.
