Washington September 7 the Navy Department asked Budget Director Dawes for expenditures in the new fiscal year starting July 1 1922 equal to those of the current year. Total appropriations this year were about 410000000 dollars.
Judge K M Landis ordered wage cuts affecting about 60 000 Chicago building trades workers from 10 to 40 cents per hour. The arbiter issued the decision early in September, impacting multiple trades in the city.
In Philadelphia a "telephone court" held by Squire Leech uses a constable to report offenses. The offender is fined ten dollars after being connected to the judge by telephone.
