Concrete Brick Debate Shapes South District Race

In April 1917 King County considered road paving for Duwamish Liverton road. The Commercial Club of Auburn and other groups urged concrete over brick. Concrete cost 65 000 versus brick 124 000, with a 60 000 saving to fund other highways. The board, led by Commissioner Smith, chose concrete. The new road opened January 1 and is praised as well built.
