A. M. Sagar a 26 year old man from Cherry Vale Kansas was stabbed to death by Riley Smallwood 19 after an argument at J Kampbell’s saloon 2316 Jefferson Ave Smallwood fled and was being sought as police scoured Tacoma suburbs for him
In Pittsburgh officials say the strike is won and enough workers are unavailable for mills. Bay View leaders are dismissed as a few disgruntled critics while loyalists back the strike. In McKeesport three hundred National Tube workers called off by strikers for repairs, with no disorder as backsliders are used to restart the plant. Duquesne remains unchanged.
Seattle observes Labor Day with a citywide parade led by Grand Marshal W A Bane. Over 450 participants from various unions march from Third Avenue to the Labor Temple site while bands perform and spectators fill the streets. Evening dances at the Red Armory and Germania Hall close a day of festive observance.
A naphtha launch owned by Wilbur Alexander burst into flames at The Abbey near Albany. Mrs. Alexander and their 12 year old daughter died in the fire, while Alexander and the son were burned. Alexander later died as his son recovered. The launch and boat were destroyed.
Geo Belcher, a Brooklyn expert swimmer, performed with his 18 year old daughter on his back when distress struck. He and his daughter sank. bystander rescued Mia Belcher who was revived. Belcher's body was recovered later, lifeless.

The second annual graduation exercises of the Mental Science College of Beattie were held Sunday night in the Masonic building at Pike Street and Second Avenue with large attendance and notable exercises. A thief stole 24 from W. H. Hurt the cigar stand proprietor at 164 Washington Street and disappeared. Detective Gil Philbrick is on the case.
The Allied Brotherhood of Railway Employes ran an excursion yesterday with two trains totaling 21 coaches leaving in the morning and returning at 9 P.M. Four coaches joined at Renton Black Diamond and Franklin. About 1600 people were carried. Seattle Military and Renton band provided music. A 13 member committee led by chairman B. B. Williams organized the event.
George Feazell a bartender on Jefferson Street quarrels with Alice Williams in front of the People's bag saloon. A large club is seized and bail set at 25 dollars for Feazell while Williams posts 10 dollars. Feazell claims to be a bartender as explanation. Willie Flagg and Arthur Herdman, both around 14, are detained by Officer Schaneman for allegedly breaking a watermelon seal and stealing melons. no charges filed.
The Humboldt from Lynn canal ports arrived with 68 passengers and a small car. The City of Topeka reached port at 11:50 with 128 passengers a cargo of 112000 dollars in Treadwell bullion 4000 cases of salmon and 90 tons of concentrates. The purser estimated individual treasure at 150000 dollars. The body of Judge H W Lightfoot was brought down and the body of J Dahl, Islander disaster victim, shipped on the Topeka.
Prosperity sees Rio Grande & Western enlarging shops to employ 600 more mechanics in Salt Lake City. Oregon Short Line buys North Salt Lake land for large new shops. San Pedro line quietly acquires land nearby for a major plant. Southern Pacific surveyors finish the South Lake cut off work and send reports to New York.
Beattie hosted a city wide picnic with parades and a tug of war between South Tile brewers and pot works workers. Renton families enjoyed a shore picnic with a baseball game while Miller’s beach offered games and a clam bake.
A hotel fire in Pittsburgh destroyed the Hotel McKee early today. Parise McKee, 11, son of the proprietor, was burned to death. Five house staff and one guest were badly burned.
A burglary at Cooper and Levy’s near Flint avenue south and Yesterway was reported last night. Thieves used a skeleton key to enter, taking six revolvers six dozen pocket knives and several razors. A patrolman found the door unfastened and notified the proprietor amid a wave of similar thefts.
The residence of Jas Atkinson at Snoqualmie station South Seattle burned at 1 pm. Alex Atkinson son occupied upper floor where fire started. Family away viewing Labor Day parade. Neighbors saved little. losses about 5000 with partial insurance. Water scarcity hindered South Seattle firefighters causing widespread alarm among residents.
