Constantinople reports Turkey has begun official negotiations with the Entente. Turkish delegates allegedly left for the conference. Austria scrambles for a separate peace as armistice terms near.
E A staff correspondent reports Bolshevik Russia is fomenting a revolution in Germany. Fifty Red couriers cross daily from Russia into Gamneten and Austria with Bolshevik pouches. Russian ambassador Joffe in Berlin pledges Red Army support to Germans against the Hohenzollerns.
Carl Sandburg, famed American reporter and poet, is sent by the Newspaper Enterprise Association with The Star as a member to gather news from Germany and Russia for American readers. He arrived in Europe after leaving the Daily News staff and will work among Scandinavian observers, reporting on Soviet Russia, Bolshevik activity, and broader Eastern European developments, with focus on labor and social questions.

British and Italian forces push eastward along a 50 mile front from Brenta to Treviso Oderzo with American units crossing the Piave. King Victor Emmanuel and Bersaglieri salute as Austrian lines collapse and 40,000 casualties are reported. More than 100 villages liberated.
Senator James H. Lewis of Illinois Democratic whip and Wilson aide plans a forthcoming Star piece on President Wilson's 14 points for permanent peace. Lewis, a former congressman from Seattle, often serves as a spokesman for the administration.
American and entente quarters report Germany issued an unsolicited note claiming reforms and urging the Kaiser powers be trimmed. The note amplifies prior German statements and suggests armistice talks will be handled with the German people not the Hohenzollerns. Versailles will align with Wilson points and finalize terms by week’s end. Wilson prepares a reply to Austria’s peace plea.
