In Colorado, an explosion at Colorado Fuel and Iron mine No. 3 in Terreio kills 23 workers at 1:30 PM. The mine is wrecked and filled with gas and smoke, with no bodies recoverable for days and a total property loss estimated at 28,000 dollars.
In San Francisco on October 29 a boy named Jamester Jackson was buried up to his chin after a well side caved in. Firemen from Truck Company No 5 freed him after a half hour of desperate work as three companions struggled to reach him before the sand closed in.
Residents of Nogales and Sonora were terrified by reports that 160 Yaqui Indians hid in the mountains behind the towns awaiting a chance to strike. No attack had yet occurred as of later reports.
