United press dispatch from Paris reports the Yser battle near Nieuport and Dixmude as a devastating clash with German forces pushing toward Dunkirk and Calais. Reinforcements flood in, hospitals overflow, and Dunkirk's civilians fear the advancing front as ships ferry wounded across the channel.
W. R. McCarty led the speeders in police court Tuesday and received a one day jail term plus a $25 fine for speeding.
Councilman Ira Lundy, vice chairman of the state progressive committee, offers 100 reward for arrest and conviction of any person fraudulently registered or attempting to vote. He cites floaters in downtown precincts and vows swift action on election day. Home Consumers announce first annual dance at Hippodrome on November 6.
