Robert Fay former German army lieutenant and his brother in law Walter Scholtz were arraigned on disorderly conduct charges in New York as suspected plotters against US munitions plants and allied ships. Police say they planned to disrupt transit of war materiel and explosives. authorities recovered bombs dynamite mines and weapons in the Weehawken area, tying the case to a broader conspiracy.

Olympia October 25. An attack on the constitutional legality of Washington’s prohibition law was presented today before the state supreme court. James K B Howe of Seattle led the argument contending the 30 day effective period of initiative laws is insufficient and could render the prohibition measure confiscatory. The case also questions publication requirements and could affect recent constitutional amendments including woman suffrage.
